About NFR Apprentice Recruitment 2026
Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has released the official notification for the engagement of 6,777 Act Apprentices under the Apprentices Act, 1961. Eligible candidates can apply online for apprenticeship training in various divisions, workshops, and units of NFR. Educational Qualification
Candidates must satisfy the educational qualifications prescribed for the trade they are applying for.
General Eligibility
Candidates should have:
- Passed Matriculation (Class 10) or equivalent under the 10+2 system with at least 50% aggregate marks from a recognised board.
- Possess a National Trade Certificate (ITI) or Provisional Certificate issued by NCVT/SCVT in the relevant notified trade.
The minimum 50% aggregate marks in Matriculation are not applicable to SC, ST, and PwBD candidates.
Medical Laboratory Technician Trades
For Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology) and Medical Laboratory Technician (Radiology):
- Passed Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology.
- Minimum 50% aggregate marks in both Class 10 and Class 12.
Relevant Class 10 and Class 12 mark sheets must be uploaded during the online application.

Salalry/Stipend
Selected apprentices will receive a monthly stipend as per the applicable provisions of the Apprenticeship Rules. At present, candidates holding an NTC/STC qualification are eligible for a minimum stipend of ₹9,600 per month. Apprentices who are eligible for one-year or two-year exemption under the apprenticeship curriculum will receive an enhanced stipend of ₹10,560 (Second Year) and ₹11,040 (Third Year) respectively. The stipend amount is subject to revision by the competent authority whenever applicable.
Training Period
The duration of apprenticeship training is 1 year for most designated trades. However, candidates selected for the Medical Laboratory Technician (Pathology/Radiology) trade will undergo apprenticeship training for 1 year and 3 months.
